Sugar – artist statement
The work in this exhibition creatively explores a range of emotional and psychological perspectives arising in the mother/adolescent daughter relationship. The works are underpinned by psychoanalytic theories about the mother’s relationship to her daughter and existential themes about the search for meaning. The sculptures made from cast sugar borrow and adapt traditional patisserie skills and will change in response to temperature and humidity in the space during the exhibition.
